Watch: Sayville native and NFL prospect Jack Coan talks with GLI ahead of draft

|

He’s one of the best high school football players Long Island has ever seen.

And now he’s getting ready for the next level.

Jack Coan, the Sayville legendary quarterback, spent four seasons, including one injured and out of the lineup, at Wisconsin before transferring to Notre Dame this past season as a graduate student.

He led Notre Dame to an 11-2 season and an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl, during which he threw for a Fiesta Bowl-record 509 yards and five touchdowns.

His performance this lasts season, coupled with strong showings at the NFL Scouting Combine and East-West Shrine Bowl has helped his case to be drafted in the NFL.

NFL.com predicts he’ll be “good backup with the potential to develop into starter.”

Some projections have him going in one of the later days in the draft. Sporting News analyst Vinnie Iyer thinks he’ll land with the Carolina Panthers in the fourth round with the 137th pick.

He also got some love from NFL Network draft analyst Lance Zierlein. Watch below.

Ahead of draft day, GLI’s Jamie Stuart zoomed with the quarterback. Here’s where his mindset is at ahead of draft day.

The three-day draft runs April 28-30. This year it is in Las Vegas.
