We asked for Long Island’s best Greek gyros. Then we ate and shot photos

Athenian Greek Taverna

2188 Jericho Turnpike, Commack

Athenian moved to its current location in 2019. Many said the location was cursed (something Greeks take very seriously). Athenian proved everyone wrong, as the place is always busy, no matter the time of day.

Upon arrival you’ll get their signature orzo dish on the house, as well as a pita platter with their killer house-made tzatziki. The gyro meat here is nice and crispy, hot and fresh. We recommend eating it right away.
