First they got married, now they are opening a business together.
West Babylon couple Nathaniel and Emily Larson, who got married in June, opened House of Juice, a smooth and juice bar at Great South Bay Commons in West Islip on Friday.
“I have been doing this type of work since I was a kid,” said Nathaniel, who’s worked in delis on the South Shore.
Nathaniel, a 27-year-old Fire Island native, met his future wife when they both worked at Saltaire Market in Saltire, Fire Island.
Now, five years later, the two are opening their venture in an area they felt needed it.
“We felt we were the missing puzzles to the strip,” said Emily on the Great South Bay Commons shopping center. “You need a healthy option.”
House of Juice will offer a variety of fresh-pressed juices and smoothies, açaí bowls, cold brews, and wraps and paninis.
There is also a heavy focus on being allergy-friendly in the establishment, especially because Emily has severe allergies herself.
“I know how unnerving it can be going to some places, not knowing how they prep their food,” said Emily, 25.
To combat that, House of Juices will have alternative ingredients for each food and beverage, as well as have unused mixers and blenders ready to use.
The Larsons also want to be as environmentally friendly as possible. To do so, they will be donating all of their compost to local farms.
“We want to be zero waste as possible,” said Nathaniel.
Currently, House of Juice’s hours of operations are Monday to Saturday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A grand opening is being planned for later this month.
