The West Islip community rejoiced for the return of bagels with this week’s reopening of Higbie Bagels in the hamlet.
“Much to the delight of bagel lovers, almost everywhere, Higbie Bagels is back to their old location on Higbie Lane,” Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter said in a statement.
The neighborhood bagel store had been closed since a man crashed into the building in 2015.
Now, three years later, fresh bagels are again being served up at 264 Higbie Lane.
On Tuesday, the West Islip Chamber of Commerce and local elected officials stopped by the reopening.
