A Westhampton man was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital with head and leg injuries Friday night after a drunk driver struck him as he crossed County Road 31 in Westhampton, police said.

Southampton Town police said the man was hit by a northbound 2005 Ford Mustang at 11:03 p.m. near the air base in Westhampton. Cops found the victim lying in the middle of the northbound lane.

Cops said the Mustang was driven by Douglas Chun Mayan, 28, of Riverhead. Police arrested Mayan at the scene, charging him with DWI, and multiple traffic violations. He was held overnight at police headquarters and was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday.

The victim’s injuries were not considered life-threatening as of Friday night, cops said.

CR 31 was closed in both directions between the railroad crossing and Stewart Avenue for about 90 minutes during the investigation.
