He broke a school record, tossed four touchdown passes and made Sayville proud.
But most importantly, Notre Dame quarterback Jack Coan walked off the field a winner following his Fighting Irish debut Sunday night in Florida.
Coan, who passed for 366 yards (a record for a Notre Dame opener), shined in his first start under center for the Blue and Gold as Notre Dame held off Florida State, 41-38, in Tallahassee. Notre Dame (1-0) hosts Toledo (1-0) on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 2:30 p.m. The game will stream on Peacock.
For his efforts, Coan was named to the Davey O’Brien Award’s Great 8 List and was one of the Manning Award Stars of the week. His outstanding prime time performance also lit up Twitter.
Check out a sampling of them below, including some hilarious ones that jab at Wisconsin for letting Coan slip away and transfer to Notre Dame.
