The Greater Long Island editorial team went back and forth on this one.
After plenty of debate and some second-guessing, we set out to answer this simple question: which Long Island downtown is truly the best?
We looked at a mix of factors — size, vibrancy, dining and nightlife options, overall energy and yes, even storefront occupancy (because nothing kills a vibe faster than a row of empty spaces).
The goal wasn’t perfection — it was to identify the places that consistently give you something to do, somewhere to go and a reason to come back.
We narrowed it down to 15 contenders; now it’s your turn to weigh in.
Cast your vote in our poll below and help crown Long Island’s best downtown.
Voting is open through Tuesday, April 14, at noon. (We urge you to vote for the “best,” even if that’s over your own hometown.)
