Wife of Bay Shore man killed in Quogue crash starts online fundraiser for her family

|

Last Saturday, Farhan Zahid of Bay Shore was one of the five people tragically killed in a car crash in Quogue.

The 32-year-old was an Uber driver, husband to Hifsa Ahmad, and father of three young children: Ayaan, 6, Mishal, 3, and Ahaan, 16 months old.

Ahmad recently created a gofundme page to raise money for funeral and living expenses as the family members attempt to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives, and weather the storms ahead.

“The children have been asking since Sunday morning when their father is coming,” she wrote in a gofundme post. “Why is he still at work? Why isn’t he coming? They don’t really understand what’s going on since they’re so young.”

So far, over 4,000 people have donated $391,426 out of the $400,000 goal for Zahid’s family.

On the night of July 24, Zahid was driving four passengers in his vehicle on Montauk Highway around 11:20 p.m. when they were hit head-on by an incoming vehicle near the intersection on Quogue Street East.

Passengers Micheal Farrell, 20, his brother James Farrell, 25, and their childhood friend Ryan Kiess, 25, all from Manhassett, and Zahid were pronounced dead at the scene.

A fourth passenger, Brianna Maglio, 22, remains in critical condition at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore.

The driver of the other vehicle, Justin Mendez, 25, of Brookhaven died later at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

Maglio’s family is accepting donations to help with hospital bill costs — for those who want to contribute, Venmo @GoFundBM.
