Two school buses traveling on Moriches-Middle Island Road to William Floyd Middle School on Friday were struck by small objects — possibly a “rock, BB, or pellet,” William Floyd School District said in a statement.
The objects hit the driver’s side windshields of both buses about 8 a.m., leaving small, circular chips from the impact. Police said Friday afternoon that the incidents do not appear to be criminal.
No injuries were reported to the drivers or students, who arrived safely at school. The school district noted that it will share updates with the community once the police release additional information regarding the investigation.
The investigation is continuing, police said. Greater Long Island is in contact with Suffolk Police, and will update this report when further information is available.
