You can go on a history hunt across Long Island this summer — and win prizes

|

Long Island is packed with Revolutionary secrets, presidential stories and spy ring legends — and now, local museums are teaming up to make sure you don’t miss a single one.

A dozen historical sites from Brooklyn to Montauk are part of the Long Island History Hunt, a brand-new summer adventure that turns visits to museums, monuments and historic homes into an interactive, selfie-snapping quest through time.

The experience runs from July 1 through Sept. 30 and is sponsored by the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation, in partnership with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

Here’s how it works:

  • Visit this website or scan a QR code at any of the participating sites to sign up.
  • Then visit any of the 12 locations and complete a selfie challenge.
  • Upload your photo(s) to be entered for prizes.

Finish just one challenge and you’re eligible to win.

Conquer all 12 and you’ll be named a Revolutionary Trailblazer and entered into a grand prize drawing that includes $500, a colonial-style lunch at the Ketcham Inn, family museum memberships and more.

“We’re proud to support this dynamic, family-friendly initiative,” said Kathryn M. Curran, executive director of the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation.

“By engaging visitors in interactive experiences, we’re helping to ensure Long Island’s past resonates with new generations.”
