You can’t rely on Facebook anymore for GreaterPatchogue news

|

Sweeping changes are coming to your Facebook feed.

According to media outlets across the U.S., over the coming weeks, Facebook will be prioritizing personal posts from friends and family while de-emphasizing content from media companies — like GreaterPatchogue.

But we’ll always be here, publishing great content daily.

To continue enjoying local news stories, see these selections below:

Visit the website early and often, and scroll down for content. Click here to see our homepage, and bookmark it.

Get push notifications to your desktop. You’ll see a bubble pop up on a computer (not phone) next time you’re on the site asking if you want push notifications. If you click yes, you’ll be the first to know whenever we publish a story. We only send 2 or 3 a day. Cancel at anytime.

Adjust the way you’re seeing our feed on Facebook and sign up for notifications.

To do this on a desktop, drag your cursor over the box where it’s marked that you Like our page, then where it says Follow/Following, choose See First. Then elect for all notifications. It’s similar on a phone. (See photo.)

Create a Google Alert and get stories emailed to you regularly.

With Google Alerts, you can have stories emailed to you as often as you choose. Click here to create an alert; type in GreaterPatchogue.

Sign up for our Think Greater Today newsletters and news alerts.

We send our top story out almost every morning at 5:30 a.m., along with events listings and more.

Follow us with Twitter Notifications.

Any story we publish, even if we don’t plan on sharing it to Facebook for a couple days, gets automatically published to Twitter. First follow, then next to the Following button, use the drop-down menu to sign up for Mobile Notifications.

Thanks for reading! We hope you enjoy consuming this information as much as we do producing it.
