When you step into the revitalized Long Island Dental Wellness in Deer Park, you’ll immediately sense something refreshingly different: a beautiful space filled with warm, familiar smiles and a subtle, inviting fragrance that instantly puts you at ease.
And that’s exactly how Dr. David Broughton and Michelle Broughton intended it.
“We genuinely want what’s best for our patients,” says Dr. Broughton, 34, a Bethpage native and former standout wrestler, who took over the practice last fall alongside his wife Michelle, a skilled dental hygienist from Babylon.
The newlyweds, now living in Wantagh, have meticulously redesigned the dental office at 163 Half Hollow Road, Suite 1, crafting an environment focused entirely around patient comfort and care.
Every detail, from framed televisions in treatment rooms to air-purifying plants in the calming waiting area are thoughtfully chosen to reduce anxiety and elevate the patient experience.
“Noise-canceling headphones, cozy pillows, memory foam chairs whatever it takes to help our patients feel relaxed and comfortable,” explains Michelle. “We’ve carefully designed each detail to make a dental visit feel more like visiting a trusted friend.”
How it happened

The journey to owning the Deer Park practice feels almost serendipitous, blending personal connection with a shared professional vision.
Despite both working in dentistry, they first met online. “One of my best friends used to work with him, but we didn’t connect those dots until later,” Michelle recalls. “Looking back, it feels meant to be.”
During the pandemic, as their relationship deepened, Dr. Broughton, with seven years in private practice after serving as the chief resident at Stony Brook Hospital, sought after a practice to call his own. Meanwhile, Michelle occasionally temped at local offices including the Deer Park location, then owned by respected dentist Dr. Kevin Henner.
In 2024, Michelle introduced Dr. Broughton to Henner at a Suffolk County Dental Association meeting, sparking an immediate connection. Dr. Henner, former president of the New York State Dental Association and chairman of the ADA council on ethics, bylaws and judicial affairs, was searching not merely for a buyer, but for someone exceptional to uphold his family’s legacy.
Henner quickly recognized Dr. Broughton’s advanced training, commitment to evidence-based care, and genuine passion for elevating patient experiences.
“Taking over this practice was a tremendous responsibility,” Dr. Broughton emphasizes. “It meant inheriting patients who were truly like family. My mission was not only to retain their trust but to demonstrate that even with a younger doctor, their care could become better than ever before.”
When you visit

At Long Island Dental Wellness, your experience is defined by comfort, clarity, and sincere care.
Unlike impersonal corporate practices, here you’ll consistently find the same dedicated hygienist, caring doctor, and welcoming front-desk staff who remember your name and story. This consistency isn’t accidental, it’s foundational.
“Many people avoid dental care due to negative past experiences or fear,” Dr. Broughton explains empathetically. “Here, we meet patients exactly where they are, listening deeply, ensuring they feel heard and respected. We move at their pace and gently guide them every step toward optimal health.”
From your very first visit, you’ll notice the difference:
- Personalized wellness screenings and tailored risk assessments.
- An advanced digital portal to effortlessly track your dental health.
- State-of-the-art technology: digital scans, HD photography, AI-assisted X-rays, and precise cavity detection devices like Diagnodent and the SoPRO LIFE camera helpful identifying problems long before they become painful.
“Our patients leave feeling exceptionally informed about their oral health,” Dr. Broughton says confidently. “You’ll see exactly what we see, empowering you to make stress-free decisions about your dental care.”
“We eliminate the guesswork,” Michelle adds. “Every recommendation we make is grounded in proven science and clarity.”
Additionally, understanding the mouth-body connection, they comprehensively assess diet, medications, and lifestyle habits, addressing root causes and supporting overall wellness.
What’s next

Looking ahead, the couple is already setting new standards for preventive care.
“We’re now using breakthrough treatments like Curodont to naturally reverse early tooth decay, avoiding unnecessary drilling,” Dr. Broughton notes. “Our philosophy emphasizes dentistry that’s conservative, transparent, proactive, and genuinely wellness-focused.”
Their commitment includes continuous investment in cutting-edge technology, advanced team training, and patient-centered innovations.
“We’re not just another dental office,” Dr. Broughton emphasizes. “We’re redefining patient care combining the comfort and familiarity of traditional dentistry with the best of modern technology.”
At Long Island Dental Wellness, dentistry isn’t merely about teeth, it’s about transforming lives, rebuilding confidence, and empowering patients so every visit feels reassuring and rewarding.
“Our greatest reward is seeing patients leave happier than when they arrived,” Michelle concludes warmly. “Those smiles remind us why we do what we do.”
