Grammy-winning country star Zach Bryan paid tribute to slain NYPD officer Jonathan Diller at his show Saturday on Long Island at UBS Arena.
He dedicated his song, “Jake’s Piano – Long Island,” to the three-year decorated NYPD veteran from Massapequa Park who was shot and killed in broad daylight during a traffic stop in Far Rockaway, Queens, on Monday.
“The best parts of you are here, but you’re still gone,” the song goes. “And I still tie that double knot, the one you taught, that gets caught on the banks. The best parts of you are here, but you still ain’t.”
After finishing the song, Bryan said, “That was for Officer Diller,” as a video tribute to Diller went on the jumbotron. “And any cop, any EMS, first responders, we love the s—t out of you. Seriously. You’re so brave,” he said. Watch the clip below.
Officer Diller was laid to rest Saturday afternoon at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale. His funeral in Massapequa drew thousands.
