Suffolk County Police arrested a 12-year-old Copiague Middle School student on Monday after he allegedly posted a threatening image of a gun on social media, authorities said.
Police responded to the school, located at 265 Great Neck Road, at 6:43 a.m., following a 911 call from school officials who discovered the Instagram post showing the photograph of a firearm.
Suffolk Police’s First Precinct Investigative Unit conducted an investigation and determined the threat was not credible, authorities said. The boy allegedly responsible for the post faces a charge of Making a Threat of Mass Harm. He will be arraigned at a later date.
