Southside HospitalĀ in Bay Shore hospital has received Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery recognition from the Surgical Review Corporation, it was announced Monday.
The program recognizes facilities that demonstrate not only a commitment to robotic surgery, but the ability to “consistently deliver safe, effective, evidence-based care,” the announcement reads.
āHaving this designation shows our ability to consistently deliver the safest, highest-quality care to robotic surgery patients,ā said Dr.Ā Peter FinamoreĀ chief of urogynecology at Southside.
According to the hospital, the benefits for patients undergoing robotic surgery include a quicker recovery time, less bleeding and often a smaller incision. SouthsideĀ offers robotic surgical procedures in the areas ofĀ colorectal, gynecology, urogynecology, gyn oncology, and thoracic.
The Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery program is structured to help robotic surgery providers continuously improve care quality and patient safety, hospital officials said.
