If you head to Sunday’s Harvest Festival in Port Jefferson, you might notice some store windows painted for the season.
That’s the handiwork of Port Jefferson School District students.
The young people had participated in Port Jefferson Village’s first-ever Harvest Fest Window Painting Contest.
“I am incredibly proud of all their hard work and dedication to their art,” said Samantha Shepard, one of the teachers who worked with the students.
To participate, students teamed up on the planning, designing and painting processes, all under the guidance of their teachers, according to the district.
They were assigned a storefront to paint in a Halloween or autumn theme, then recreated their designs.
The contest was organized by the Port Jefferson Harbor Education and Arts Conservancy.
The following students were awarded prizes:
Caitlin Dickhuth (grade 5) -1st place
Aoife Hogan (grade 5) -1st place
Hannah Skula (grade 9) – 1st place
Farrah Ghaleb (grade 9) – 2nd place
Victoria Snaden (grade 4) – 2nd place
Eve McCabe (grade 3) – 3rd place
