Island to Table: Plenty of in-season produce from Lenny Bruno

Lenny Bruno Farms

Lenny Bruno Farms, Inc. in Manorville has been providing Long Islanders with fresh vegetables for four generations.

“Long Islanders have a special appreciation for produce that is grown right here on Long Island,” said owner and operator Dominic Bruno.

“We’re proud of the fact that we can provide fresh produce to the public every day.”

Lenny Bruno Farms will be bringing the taste of fresh Long Island produce to the Island to Table Event in Patchogue on July 31. (Click here and then scroll down to purchase tickets.)

The Island to Table outdoor dining experience in New Village will feature five local chefs cooking with local products. Aside from raising money for sustainability projects, the event seeks to raise awareness about Long Island’s local food sources, from land and water.

Greaterpatchogue.com is Island to Table’s official media sponsor, and is showcasing the local suppliers, like Lenny Bruno Farms.

Juicy, sun-ripened tomatoes, crisp peppers, and flavorful eggplant—all of which are in season—can be expected to appear on the plates of foodies eager to sample the fruits (or vegetables, rather) of a Long Island summer on Sunday.

The Lenny Bruno farmstand, located right off the service road of the LIE exit 69 south and from the Sunrise Highway north at Wading River road, is stocked with fresh, hand-picked produce every morning. The farmstand is open to the public 7 days a week, May-November.

Their website includes a full list of produce, available by season.

In early-mid August, Lenny Bruno Farms opens their fields to allow visitors to “pick-their-own-veggies.” Selections typically include bell peppers, long hots, cheese peppers, hot cherry peppers, sweet cherry peppers, fryers, white peppers, plum tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes, black eggplant, little finger eggplant, flat beans and fall pumpkins.
