Port Jeff district schedules tours, Sayville trip before $29.9M bond vote Dec. 5

|

Voters in the Port Jefferson School District will be heading to the polls on Dec. 5 to decide on the fate of a $29.9 million bond for facilities upgrades.

In the run-up to that, district administrators will be offering tours of the facilities that are involved in the planned project, as well as a Nov. 27 informational meeting (full schedule below).

The district is looking to build new classrooms at the high school, install lighting at the Scraggy Hill fields, upgrade HVAC units, get rid of the portables that house district administrators and music classes, and more.

According to district calculations, a property owner who pays $4,000 annually in school taxes will see their tax bill rise by approximately $198.

Someone who pays $8,000 in taxes will see a $396 annual jump.
