Port-opoly goes on in Port Jefferson and the gift baskets are ready

|

The prize baskets valued at over $500 are ready to go as the first-ever Port-opoly retail crawl in Port Jefferson enters its final two weeks.

The game started on Oct. 14 and goes through Nov. 15.

The winner will be drawn Nov. 30.

“Customers are having fun shopping and exploring the village,” said Steve Muñoz of The Amazing Olive and the Port Jefferson Retailer Association. “Some are even getting their holiday gift shopping started early.”

Here’s how it works. Shoppers can pick up their Port-Opoly game boards at any of the 24 participating locations (which appear below in the mock game board).

From there, they get to go shopping! The more stores that are visited, the more stamps, hole punches or special markings they will get on the back of their game boards.

The winner will be drawn from among the cards with the most stamps.

He said many are discovering new shops, such as BiblioFlames, The Barn, downtown and Ecolin Jewelers’ new Made in America Gift Gallery.

While others are finding out that some older shops have recently relocated in the village, such as The Amazing Olive, The Knitting Cove and Susan Rodgers Designs.

“Business and locals really feel that the village is becoming the go-to boutique retail destination in the region,” Muñoz said.
