On Hoftstra University’s softball page that details its player roster from a few years back, it notes that superstar pitcher Olivia Galati had aspired to become a physical education teacher.
She made quick work of that dream, as the 2013 graduate of Hofstra University is now a physical education teacher at Bay Shore High School.
And Hofstra University made quick work of retiring their best pitcher’s No. #2 jersey. Bay Shore schools announced this week that Hofstra had recently retired the West Babylon native’s number.
Galati, who went to St. John the Baptist High School, became Hofstra’s first-ever first-team All American in 2012.
Before graduating in 2013, she had led Hofstra to three NCAA Regional appearances, including its first Super Regional appearance.
She was also honored as the Colonial Athletic Association Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2012, as well as a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American.
After recording a school-record 129 career wins, 1,410 strikeouts, 12 no-hitters and 5 perfect games, Galati was the second overall pick in the 2013 National Pro Fastpitch Draft.
