Military veterans were joined by their families and friends, local businesspeople and others Friday in a gathering around Patchogue’s Four Corners intersection for Veterans Day.
The ceremonies, which also drew locally elected leaders, were helped along by Patchogue Fire Department volunteers, as well as the Saxton Middle School band.
“The families are the ones that understand the most about the sacrifices you’ve made,” Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri said in his address to the veterans and those in attendance.
“And as I stand before you today, I thank you.”
