Islip’s street fair to feature new vendors, a video game truck and more

|

The Islip Chamber of Commerce is getting all set for Sunday’s Summer Main Street Festival.

June 4 will mark the 19th annual street fair in Islip.

Among other changes, the chamber is no longer working with a festival company for this year’s event. But there will still be pony rides and bounce houses.

“We just felt the need to handpick our own vendors,” said the chamber’s president, Doris Kennedy of Kennedy L.I. Realty Inc. of Bay Shore.

In addition to the many new craft and food vendors, Kennedy said the organizers will have a video game trailer located near the chamber booth in the area of Tellers.

“The chamber booth will have a ton of raffles from all the local shops,” she said.

There’s also bands playing near Bottoms Up! and Maxwell’s.

But the big stage will be near Islip Cinemas and will feature DJ-spun music all day, as well as live music, and a performance from Madagascar courtesy of CM Performing Arts in Oakdale.

“It’s an exciting day in town,” said Kennedy. “It’s an opportunity for our shops and restaurants to showcase what they have, and then we bring in lots of exciting other vendors. We have a full day of great entertainment for kids and adults.”

“We’re just hoping the sun will be shining on us.”

The festival run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from the Town Hall area to Smith Avenue.
