Matthew McGuire, draped in his “Grand Marshall 2020” sash, waited two years to march in a St. Patrick’s Day parade.
“Well worth the wait,” said McGuire, who proudly led Sunday’s Bayport-Blue Point St. Patrick’s Day Parade. “It’s awesome that everybody’s starting to get outside again. The Bayport-Blue Point community is coming back alive.”
McGuire joined bagpipers, marching bands, dancers, the Blue Point Fire Department, and dozens of other businesses, floats and marchers on Montauk Highway Sunday morning amid frigid temperatures.
This year’s parade honored the late-Thomas Reid, who founded the Bayport-Blue Point Gazette.
