Beginning a new year certainly puts people in high spirits, with hopes for a healthier and happier future, but what if I told you that you don’t have to hope…what if I told you that science says things can get better, starting right now?
There are some scientifically proven lifestyle changes that you can make, starting today, that will support a healthier, happier life.
1. Start with the sunshine vitamin
Vitamin D has gotten lots of attention recently, and with good reason. Studies show that sufficient levels of vitamin D support healthy bones and teeth, fight disease, reduce feelings of depression, and can even assist in weight loss. A significant study by the Queen Mary University of London recommends checking on your vitamin D levels to avoid getting sick. This large, world-wide study showed that the sunshine vitamin can help protect against colds, viruses, and respiratory infections.
2. Add a fitness routine
In a study with over 1.2 million participants, the researchers at Yale University have found that exercising regularly can make you feel as great as an additional $25,000 a year. In addition to increasing happiness, more proven benefits of exercising include improving physical health, weight loss and reducing stress.
3. Be kind
According to six science backed studies, kindness can lead to a healthier and happier life. Being kind can improve the mental health of those with social anxiety, improve your heart health, emotionally and physically, and even reduce inflammation, which is the cause of many illnesses. Be sure to add more acts of kindness into your New Year’s Resolutions for a happier, healthier you.
