Sayville strong, indeed.
Once named the “friendliest town in America,” Sayville draped itself in community spirit Tuesday to celebrate the resiliency of its students, its school district, its businesses and the town itself.
An event chiefly organized by Sayville schools’ Sayville S.T.R.I.D.E.S. initiative and the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce saw hundreds and hundreds of Sayvillites festively stroll through downtown on a warm and bright afternoon in a show of community solidarity.
The crowd — led by by Sayville High School band members – walked south on Greeley Ave. to Main Street, after gathering at 6 p.m. behind the Sayville Library. They marched up and down Main Street once, before circling back to the library for food, fun activities and a brief ceremony that highlighted the school district’s resiliency through the 2020-21 school year.
