Members of the East Islip Community Chamber of Commerce are getting set for their big Halloween family fundraiser at Shandon Court next Sunday, Oct. 30.
“The event raises money for a better community, for everybody who lives or works here,” said Ryan Gillies, a chamber member and insurance salesman with the James F. Sutton Agency of East Islip.
“We’ll have face painting, kid’s games, a photo booth, mummy making,” and more, he said.

The headliner will be none other than, Kathy Ewart, known locally around this time each year as The Witch of East Islip.
“She dresses like a witch every Halloween and sits on her roof and throws candy at the kids,” Gillies said. “She’s been doing ever since she’s lived here. And now she does it for the Halloween fundraiser.”
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is mostly indoors. It’s free to attend and children of all ages are welcome. Costumes are encouraged.
Shandon Court is located at 115 East Main Street in East Islip.
