The U.S. Army recently recognized Estefania Navas, a graduate of Bay Shore High School, as one of its Future Soldiers at the People En Espanol Festival in Manhattan.

There was an estimated crowd of 3,000 people at the J.K Javitz Convention Center on Oct. 16, according to information provided by the U.S. Army Bay Shore Recruiting Center.

Navas, 21, was born in Ecuador and enlisted with the Army in February.

After Bay Shore, she attended Suffolk County Community College from 2012-14, and then Queens College, where she will graduate in December with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience.

She’ll heading to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., in January for training as a 12V Concrete and Masonry Specialist.

“She is extremely proud of her decision to join the US Army Reserve and looking forward to utilize her education with her Solider background to further education for Master’s program,” reads an Army announcement.

Navas follows in the footsteps of a sister, Ashley Navas, who is currently completing Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood as a 12N Horizontal Construction Engineer.
