The ‘new’ Record Stop opens its doors on Railroad Avenue in Patchogue

|

The much-anticipated return of Record StopĀ is upon us.

The doors open at 10 a.m. Friday, May 5, on Railroad Avenue in Patchogue Village, across from The Emporium.

The original Record Stop was on Portion Road from 1974 to 2010.

But in many ways, like Bob’sĀ Big Boy, Record Stop never left.

Owner Jeff Berg, whoā€™s father, Bruce, founded Record Stop, moved to a warehouse location in Shirley when the storefront closed and continued to grow the business online.

As for the new shop, GreaterPatchogue previously reportedĀ it will be much like how people remember the old one.

Music posters. T-shirts. Turntables. And wall-to-wall vinyl records and CDs ā€” about 30,000 vinyl records and another 30,000 CDs ā€” just in the retailĀ space.

ā€œTheyā€™re going to walk into a cooler, newer version of a record store,ā€ Berg said.

Berg took to theĀ Record Stop Facebook page Thursday night to talk about the opening.

“I’m a little tired, but it was well worth it, come visit!!!” he wrote. “Thank you everyone that was part of making this happen, from my friends and family, the Village of Patchogue, all my contractors, and especially my amazing staff!

“Time for the best part, OUR CUSTOMERS!!!! Thank you, thank you!!!”
