Third Time’s a Charm for the first baby of 2019 delivered at St Charles Hospital.

Before he finally arrived on New Year’s Day, Baby Matthew’s parents thought they were going to be blessed with their greatest gift on two separate occasions this past holiday season.

Danielle and Mark Fox, of Hauppauge, had trekked to St. Charles Hospital twice already when Danielle began having contractions, one time during Hanukkah and another on Christmas.

Alas, Matthew Ben Fox, who weighed 5 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 19 inches at birth, decided that he’d wait a little longer before making his appearance at 7:27 am on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019.

Matthew was actually born five weeks early by emergency cesarean section.

The first-time parents drove from their home to Port Jefferson at 5 a.m. on New Year’s Day after Danielle’s water broke. The couple had a good reason for wanting their baby to be born at St. Charles Hospital.

“I was born here and our doctor is here so we wanted to have our baby at St. Charles,” said Danielle. She is originally from the Port Jefferson area and all six of her nieces and nephews were also born at the hospital. St. Charles Hospital representative told GreaterPortJeff that mommy and baby are both doing fine now.
