Alive After Five music, pouring of alcohol to stop 1/2 hour earlier in 2017

|

by Michael White | The good news for Alive After Five 2017 revelers is the party will continue until 9:30 p.m. — as usual — at all four summer installments in Patchogue.

The good news for those concerned about potential rowdiness is that live music and the serving of alcohol will be cut off at 9 p.m. this summer, instead of 9:30 p.m. as in years past.

The new plans were announced by David Kennedy, the executive director of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, Monday night in Patchogue Village Hall.

“The police have made it clear that it’s those last couple of hours when small issues have arisen,” Kennedy said. “It’s clear now the music and the [outdoor] serving of alcohol will stop right at 9 o’clock. Then there will be a half hour to allow people to finish whatever drink they still have in their hand and start heading out.”

Attendance to the summer festivals have exploded in 2015 and 2016. The second July installment of Alive After Five in 2016 attracted an estimated 25,000 people to downtown Patchogue, surpassing a 2015 surprise turnout of 21,000 by nearly 20 percent. Previous attendance record were closer to 10,000.

The Alive After Five dates are July 6, July 20, Aug. 3, and Aug 17.
