The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning that starts at 10 p.m. Tuesday night and runs through 4 a.m. Thursday.
Locally, the warning is in effect for northwestern Suffolk County from Cold Spring Harbor through Rocky Point — with 6 to 10 inches expected, according to the NWS.
Travel is expected to be hazardous or impossible, especially during the Wednesday evening commute.

Snow is likely to start in the overnight hours from Tuesday into Wednesday, most likely after 4 a.m. Highs will be near 36 on Wednesday, with winds up to 26 mph in the afternoon.
About 3 to 5 inches is possible Wednesday day and another 2 to 4 that night.
Thursday is expected to be partly sunny with a high of 42.
