$5M scratch-off ticket paves road to riches for Plainview man

|

A Plainview man claimed his $5 million top prize Friday on New York Lottery’s X Series: 100X scratch-off game.

Vipan Kumar purchased the lucky ticket at Hicksville’s Farmingdale Petroleum, where just last month a $1 million second prize Powerball ticket was purchased. The gas station and convenience store is located at 400 S. Oyster Bay Rd. in Hicksville.

Kumar received his prize as a single lump sum totaling $3,255,000 after required tax withholdings.

The Plainview man is the latest in a rash Long Islanders striking it rich playing New York Lottery games.

Last week, Catherine Laudonio of Stony Brook claimed her top prize on the New York Lottery’s “Win $1,000 A Week For Life” scratch-off game. The $2 ticket she purchased at the 7-Eleven on Smithtown Road in Ronkonkoma brought in a minimum payout of $1,000,000.

Also last week, Stephanie Fitzgerald of Brentwood claimed her top prize on the $1,000,000 Bonus Word Cashword scratch-off game. Earlier this month, Noel Hernandez Fuentes of Central Islip claimed his top prize of $5 million on the Set For Life scratch-off game.

New York Lottery said Friday there was one more top prize available on the X Series: 100X ticket. Players can check the status of their New York Lottery scratch-off game cards by downloading the Game Report at nylottery.ny.gov.
