Soon you’ll be able to restaurant hop along Patchogue River — without ever getting into a car.
It was finalized Wednesday that Fire Island Ferris Inc. in Bay Shore will be providing a 30-passenger water taxi for rivergoers on five select days this spring and summer.
Those days are May 5, for the restaurants’ Cinco de Mayo parties, followed by the four Thursdays of the inaugural Alive on the River series: July 5, July 26, Aug. 9, and Aug. 23.
The ferries will be making stops on the hour — give or take 15 minutes, the organizers say — at Drift 82, The Oar Steak & Seafood Grill, Dublin Deck, Harbor Crab. Co. and Off Key Tikki.
It’ll be $5 per ride or $10 for a bracelet to get unlimited rides that day.
“We work together well on Main Street, so it’s easier that way, for us to work tighter on the river and incorporate everybody,” said John Sarno of both Drift 82 and the Village Idiot Pub.
“Now you can go restaurant hopping.”
The water taxis will run from 4 p.m. to midnight. Alcohol is not allowed on the boat.
The taxi plans were conceived through several meetings in recent months of the Patchogue Riverfront Committee, a Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce-affiliated group that includes the restaurants, marinas and other businesses. Check back for additional coverage.
