If you’re looking to act all profesh with the Patchogue Young Professionals, this might not be the networking meeting for you.
Members of the fledgling group will be letting their hair down June 3 at the very first Backyard Summer Kickoff on the water at Pine Grove Inn in East Patchogue.
So leave your blazer in the car.
“This is going to be a laid-back party with a DJ from Party 105; it’s like a mixer,” said Stephen King, a realtor for Realty Connect USA and the group’s planning board chairperson. “This is certainly the younger part of the young professionals.”
There will be backyard games, food and unlimited beer, cider and mimosas (all being donated) served outside. The brunch will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 3. Tickets are available online for $30. Scroll down for a map.
“The weather is breaking and we wanted to have fun,” said King.
The Young Professionals, an effort nudged along through the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, has already organized three well-attended networking nights, attracting keynote speakers such as Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri and James Bonanno, owner of The Tap Room restaurants, Bango Bowls and more. Chamber president James Skidmore spoke at the last meeting, which was sold out, at the new James Joyce Irish pub.
Last month, the group worked with Patchogue-Medford High School teachers to book a panel of professionals from the area to speak to business students at the school.
Other board members include Michelle Gillette Kelly of Patchogue, who has just launched a French bakery called Mademoiselle Pastisserie on North Ocean Avenue; Kyle Koleda, a Patchogue-Medford librarian and videographer; Michele Cayea of Medford, also a librarian at Pat-Med; and Tiffany Rivera of Patchogue, a Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce VP.
