‘The Bean’ gets tapped as Island to Table’s official coffee and tea purveyor

|

The newly opened Bean of Patchogue will be the official coffee purveyor at this year’s Island to Table outdoor dining experience on Sunday, Aug. 26, in Patchogue Village.

The Bean will be offering coffee and tea tastings all night — not just during the dessert portion of the 5-course meal that’s being prepared by five local chefs using ingredients from Long Island farms.

Bean staffers will be serving up 10 different varieties of coffee, said co-owner Rob Cutrone.

“It’s great to grow this brand locally, to remind people that we’re now here in Patchogue,” Cutrone said.

Coffee cuppings, or tastings, will be happening throughout the night at Michael E. Reilly Memorial Park (Fireman’s Park) near the Great South Bay.

The Bean chain of coffeehouses — there are locations in Babylon and Bay Shore — serves coffee exclusively from East End Coffee Roasters of Center Moriches.

Cutrone is also an owner in that company as well.

“This is a Long Island roasting company. At Center Moriches we have the ability to import from over 30 different countries,” he said. “We’ll also have teas, local teas from the North Fork, that we will be showcasing at Island to Table.

“We’re definitely proud to be part of this event.”

The staffers will also be on hand to describe the coffees as well.

Tickets are $150 each.

Last year’s dinner was a sellout and raised over $10,000 for HomeGrown Change, a local sustainability and educational group that introduces young people to gardening.

Greater Long Island Media Group is the event’s chief sponsor.
