10-year-old boy on e-bike hit by car in Lake Ronkonkoma

A 10-year-old boy suffered serious injuries Thursday night when he was struck by a car at a Lake Ronkonkoma intersection while riding an e-bike, Suffolk Police said.

Mason Mereroa of Holbrook was operating a 2025 e-bike northbound on the southbound shoulder of Patchogue-Holbrook Road about 8:30 p.m. when a 2020 Porsche Macan making a right turn onto Richard Place hit him, police said.

The impact threw Mereroa from the bike. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, Osman Siddique, 27, of Ronkonkoma, was not injured. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
