Jake’s 58 brings a trackside feel to its Islandia casino restaurant

Belmont Stakes fans at Jake’s 58 Casino Hotel can now wager on the races without ever leaving their bistro table.

Just in time for one of horse racing’s biggest weekends, the Islandia casino has installed two new betting kiosks inside Bistro 58, allowing guests to place wagers while grabbing a bite to eat or watching the action unfold on big-screen TVs throughout the restaurant and bar.

The addition gives racing fans another way to get in on the action as the Belmont Stakes returns to Saratoga Race Course today, Saturday, for a third and final year while Belmont Park in Elmont undergoes a major overhaul.

The new machines bring Jake’s 58’s total number of horse betting terminals to six. Four additional kiosks remain available inside the casino’s OTB area on the other side of the complex.

Post time for today’s Belmont Stakes is 7:04 p.m.

More racing

Meanwhile, Suffolk OTB is also giving harness racing fans a little extra time at the betting window.

The OTB Racing Forum on Motor Parkway in Hauppauge has extended harness racing wagering hours on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with bets now accepted until 10 p.m. — three hours later than the previous 7 p.m. cutoff. Betting hours for thoroughbred racing remain unchanged.
