Motorcyclist seriously injured in South Huntington crash

A 21-year-old Huntington man was thrown from his motorcycle and seriously injured Friday afternoon when a vehicle making a turn struck him on Old Country Road in South Huntington, police said.

Luca Cassinelli was riding a 2026 Yamaha eastbound on Old Country Road about 3:20 p.m. when a 2015 Toyota Corolla going west tried to turn left onto Wolf Hill Road and hit him, police said. The impact ejected Cassinelli from the motorcycle.

Cassinelli was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip with serious injuries. The Toyota’s driver, Maxime Laurore, 48, of Uniondale, was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Second Squad detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call 631.854.8252.
