High Tide Taco Bar closes in Farmingdale with heartfelt farewell

High Tide Taco Bar in Farmingdale served its last meal Sunday.

The restaurant at 257 Main Street announced its closure on social media, thanking customers for the memories and support that made High Tide a special place over the years.

“What started as a restaurant became so much more because of the customers who walked through our doors,” the staff wrote. “After many years of great food, cold drinks, laughter, celebrations, and countless memories, the time has come for the High Tide staff to say goodbye.”

The post recalled families celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, friends gathering around tables and customers returning again and again.

“We have had the privilege of watching families grow, friendships form, and birthdays and anniversaries celebrated, along with so many unforgettable moments taking place at High Tide,” the post said.

The staff also acknowledged the challenges that came with running the restaurant, but said its customers made the long days worthwhile.

“You were the reason we came to work every day, and you are the reason High Tide became such a special place to all of us,” the post said.

Several longtime customers shared their own memories after the closure was announced.

“Sad to see this close,” Mary Elizabeth Mertz wrote on Facebook. “The food was outstanding. I just introduced my co-workers to this place and they loved it as well. Sorry to see it go.”

“I’m very grateful for all the memories there,” Lisa Grieb added. “You will certainly be missed. Best tacos around.”

The restaurant did not give a reason for the closure. Calls to High Tide went to voicemail.

The staff ended its farewell with one final thank-you to those who supported the restaurant over the years.

“We hope that when you think of High Tide, you remember the good times — the meals shared, the drinks enjoyed, the laughter, the celebrations, and the people you were with,” the post said.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything. It has truly been our pleasure serving you.”
