Local cigar aficionados, the wait is over: the South Shore Cigar Club is open for business in Brightwaters.
Co-owners and close friends Chris Carrillo and Evan Stogianos launched the South Shore Cigar Club at 344 North Windsor Avenue in the new Brightwaters Commons on Thursday.
The new business will have its official grand opening celebration on Oct. 24 at 4:30 p.m.
The cigar shop is a 1,200-square-foot retail space and lounge concept where people can walk in and buy cigars, or spend some time to get away from life’s stresses.
The main feature of the shop that Carrillo and Stogianos put in place is a comfortable space with cozy lounge chairs where people can watch TV, play pool, hang out with friends, or meet some new ones.
Patrons who want to frequent the shop can become a member of the “club,” which comes with a personal locker to store cigars, various discounts, and access to limited, rare cigars upon release.
The owner said a majority of visitors have already joined their membership program.
Carrillo said to make patrons feel more comfortable, the South Shore Cigar Club is taking pandemic precautions with their high-end air filtration system, which not only cleans the smoke from the air, but also the bacteria.
He and Stogianos are excited to join the Brightwaters community and connect with the surrounding businesses.
“The level of support that we’ve received from the community in general, throughout the build-out, and construction of the space has been amazing,” Carrillo said.
“We’re grateful to follow our passion and be involved in such a supportive neighborhood while doing that — it makes it easier to take the risk.”
