The Town of Islip Apple Festival — featuring live music; an apple pie eating contest; and nearly 300 craft, food and merchandise vendors — returns to the Grange in Sayville this Saturday, Oct. 19.
Here’s what you need to know before you head out to the 41st annual event.
• The event kicks off at 10 a.m., with continuous entertainment rolling until 4:30 p.m. The historic Grange property is located at 10 Broadway Ave (at the Montauk Highway intersection).
• Admission is free and free shuttle service is provided to the event from the Sayville train station.
• The entertainment includes an apple culinary contest, apple sauce and apple pie eating competitions, and a scarecrow contest.
• Pumpkin picking, a petting zoo, pony rides and a Family Fun Zone featuring amusement rides and old fashioned games and contests will keep the kids smiling.
• Musical entertainment will be provided the Long Island-based classic rock and country band Southbound.
• The festival will be broadcast live on 103.1 MAX FM.
• The temperature is expected to reach near 60 degrees, with mostly sunny skies.
