Sayville student’s ‘White Wash’ painting earns prestigious honor

|

A Sayville high school student is one of just seven Long Islanders to earn an Award of Excellence in the Art League of Long Island’s 2021 “Go APE” Advanced Placement Virtual Exhibition.

Senior Sarah Hauk’s acrylic painting, “White Wash,” along with the rest of the Go APE exhibition, will remain on display, virtually, through tomorrow.

The 14th annual exhibition features 2-D and 3-D works by 124 AP and IB art students from 37 Long Island high schools. It presents an opportunity for the art students to show their work in a professional gallery setting, albeit virtual for 2021.

Here’s a list of the other students who earned Awards of Excellence:

Kristine Zhou, Syosset High School, “Caged,” colored pencil and white tape on white paper.

Keren Dial, Valley Stream South High School, “Cultivating the Mustard,” colored pencil.

Jordan Brand, Baldwin High School, “Illusion is Illumination,” acrylic on watercolor paper

Emma Romano, Oceanside High School, “Cultural Cleanse,” photography.

Kathryn Yi, Jericho High School, “Connection,” pencil drawing.
