Update: Newsday is reporting that a federal bankruptcy court judge has approved the sale of the North Patchogue Waldbaum’s to King Kullen for $2.5 million.

The sale of 10 other Waldbaum’s and Pathmarks were also approved Friday, according to the report.

Original story: King Kullen Grocery Co. is looking to acquire the North Patchogue Waldbaum’s location in bankruptcy court today, Friday, according to online court documents.

Should the judge approve the sale, it’s likely a King Kullen would open in the Sunrise Highway location near Waverly Avenue, as the Bethpage-based supermarket chain doesn’t operate supermarkets under other brand names.

Waldbaum’s is owned by the now-bankrupt Great Atlantic Pacific Tea Company, Inc., (A&P), also the operators of Pathmark, SuperFresh, The Food Emporium and other supermarkets.

The Local 338 food workers’ union also announced King Kullen was the bidder on the site earlier this month.

Attempts to reach a King Kullen spokesperson for details were unsuccessful.
