Thousands of people flocked to Heckscher Park in Huntington Monday for the final day of the Long Island Fall Festival.

The Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Huntington cohosted the event that draws thousands across the island and around the tri-state area Friday through Monday.

“It’s been amazing, we had thousands of people come here,” Kelly Smith, the director of member services for the chamber, said at the fair. She attended with her family who were enjoying ices. “Friday night and Saturday we had almost in the hundreds of thousands. And we had almost two hundred different vendors across the whole weekend.”

Despite Sunday’s rainfall, the festival trekked on. Monday, a sunny day, drew a massive crowd, with lines dozens deep for food and rides.

Families with small children and groups of teenage friends listened to live music, hopped on rides, enjoyed food like rolled up ice cream, fried Oreos and fresh lemonade and played carnival games.

“We’re from Huntington so we come here every year,” Tyler Brown, who attended the festival Monday with his wife, Lisa, and their 14-month-old daughter Avry, said.

Brown held Avry in his lap on a stool at a water gun game booth and one her a pink stuffed unicorn. “This is her first year, obviously, so we had to win her something.”
