Stony Brook native Kevin James stars in Syosset playhouse production of ‘Oliver!’

|

“King of Queens” actor Kevin James came back home to Long Island this weekend to star in a stage production of “Oliver!”

The Ward Melville High School graduate played Fagin, one of the villains portrayed in the Charles Dickens story, in three shows — Jan. 14-16 — at Cultural Arts Playhouse in Syosset. James, a star wrestler during high school on Long Island and the former “King of Queens” leading man, performed Friday, Saturday and Sunday alongside his four children.

The Stony Brook native’s son Kannon, 10, was Oliver Twist. Sienna, 16, was the Artful Dodger; Shea, 14, was Bet; and Sistene, 7, played Nipper, according to reports.

Each of the shows sold out.

However, Cultural Arts Playhouse founder Bruce Grossman told Newsday this may not be the last time James graces their stage, as the celebrity said he’d like to be involved in future shows.

On the big screen, the 16 movies with James as the lead or part of the lead ensemble have grossed a total of more than $3 billion at the box office worldwide.
