North Babylon’s Bryan Armando Loais named the county’s Unsung Hero

|

The boy’s varsity basketball team at North Babylon High School knows the cliche:

“Not all heroes wear capes,” all so well.

This team has one player in particular who’s more known for devotion and hard work than his ability to score baskets and grab rebounds.

That player is Bryan Armando Loais, and his efforts have not gone unnoticed, even though the senior played six minutes all season.

“He’s an incredible kid who is loved by the team,” said coach Brendan McCaffrey.

And its not only his teammates and coaches who root for Loais.

While on its way to a postseason berth, the Bulldogs held a Senior Night where the crowd cheered in unison, “Put Bryan in, Put Bryan in!”

After playing three minutes and scoring four points, his team rushed the floor to hug and congratulate Loais.

Loais’ positive impact on his team helped him earn the esteemed “Unsung Hero” award, which is presented each year by the Suffolk County Basketball Coaches Association.

Following the season, Loais will be presented with the honor at a countywide award’s night.
