Bean coffeehouses to open fourth location, this time in North Babylon

|

Well-known coffeehouse owner Sal Gervasi is getting back to his roots.

The North Babylon native — who co-owns The Bean coffeehouse chain, with locations in Babylon, Bay Shore, and Patchogue — is opening his fourth coffee shop in his hometown.

Later this month, Gervasi will be opening Babylon Bean North at 775 Deer Park Avenue, which is a familiar location for the current Oak Beach resident.

“I owned that space from 1999 to 2006,” he explained. “It was a Brooklyn-style luncheonette, ice cream shop.”

Gervasi, who took over Babylon Bean in 2010, is glad his latest venture is back in North Babylon.

“It is like going back to your old neighborhood with the people you grew up with,” he said. “They have coffee there, but there isn’t a coffeehouse or a roasting facility.”

According to Babylon Bean North’s owners, the menu will be similar to the rest of the Bean locations.

There will be barista drinks, breakfast and lunch items, as well as bakery goods and acai bowls. The 1,000-square-feet building, which housed an acai bowl eatery previously, will offer between 10-15 seats.
