Sag Harbor ranks second, Bay Shore is fourth, and four other Long Island boating locations are among the top 10 boating locations in New York, according to a new report.
Getmyboat, a platform for boat charters and rentals, analyzed booking and demand data for boats in waterways across the state. The rental marketplace, which operates similarly to the home rental platform, AirBnb, included pricing and the most popular style of vessel for each location in its report.
Manhattan was No. 1 on the list, with yachts as the most popular style of boat rented, and a hefty average trip price of $1,927.
In Sag Harbor, where boaters enjoy the Shelter Island Sound, Gardiners Bay and Peconic Bay, the average trip price is $2,950 and sailing yachts are the preferred choice of vessel renters. Bay Shore, in part thanks to its convenient access to Fire Island, lures in an average trip price of $1,407.
The other Long Island boating communities in Getmyboat’s top 10 are No. 5 Oyster Bay, No. 6 Port Washington, No. 9 Montauk and No. 10 Hampton Bays.
