A trio of Suffolk Police officers and the Suffolk County SPCA saved the day for a momma duck and her eight ducklings Tuesday in Mount Sinai, Suffolk County SPCA Chief Roy Gross said.
The officers pulled the ducklings from a storm drain that the baby ducks had wandered into while trailing their mother. Gross had received a call from the community about the ducks trapped in the storm drain.
Sixth Precinct Officers Willams, Yasso and Cappeti took part in the rescue, authorities said.
All of the ducklings were rescued and reunited with their mother. Curiosity, a proclivity for exploration and limited mobility sometimes lead ducklings to fall into storm drains.
