Greaterlongisland.com just racked up a million pageviews in a single month for the second time this year.
More than 780,000 unique visitors flocked to Greater Long Island (GLI) in October for its take on local news, registering 1.05 million pageviews in the process.
That was good for the site’s second-best month on record. The site tallied 1.08 million pageviews in January from just over 850,000 unique visitors.
Greater Long Island is now on track to reach nearly 10 million views in 2024 alone.
October was also the same month GLI had two video features place as finalists in the New York Emmy Awards.
“What we’re trying to do here is deliver local information that people can trust and rely on, but in a more engaging way than what you might find with traditional news outlets,” said Greater Long Island’s founder and publisher, Michael White. “And to pull this off, we have lined up an extremely talented team of local journalists who hail from some of the best-known newsrooms in the country.
“We will continue to reinvest until we are the undisputed, number one source of news for Long Islanders. That is the goal. That has always been the goal.”
Earlier this year, Greater Long Island also made crucial updates to its iPhone app. You can download the free app to get local news updates pushed to your phone.
